A new beginning...

Hi, my dear friends!  It has been such along time since I've written.  There's no telling how many posts I have started only to stop halfway through... I know this is very related to my desire to have just the "right" post to start back up with.... but let's face it, friends.  I will never have the perfect post... :)  And why wait for perfection by procrastinating in doing something that I enjoy so much?  Is there a life lesson in that, or is it just me??  ;)

And what could be better than "resurrecting" this blog following the celebration of Christ's resurrection?  There is SO much joy to be found in the new beginning that Christ offers through his sacrifice.  He died so that we can experience a new life and rebirth into fellowship with him.. and for that I am so very grateful.

I'm also grateful that I was able to share Easter with my dear friends Julie and Sarah.  For the past two years, I have been away from my family on Easter, and I have really missed the special time of fellowship that the holiday always brings about in our family.  This year, when Julie's sweet family opened up their home to me, there was no way I could refuse... especially since Jules is one of my absolute favorite people on this earth.  And add onto that my other friend-and-favorite-person Sarah?  The day could not get much better... or so I thought.

Not only did Julie's precious mom fix an amazing meal for us, but she also gifted us with the most amazing presents that 20-something-year-olds could possibly receive... TOYS!  Bubbles, chalk, jump ropes, and jacks... if you had driven by their house to see us playing in the front yard, I'm sure you wouldn't have known that we are clinical psychology doctoral students and practicing therapists.

We hopscotched (and realized we could take some really awesome pictures of us floating above ground)...

We practiced our ninja fighting skills...

We traced our shadows in chalk AND traced our bodies to create mythical/fictional creatures... i.e. a mermaid, a centaur, and peter pan.

And what is even better than a chalk dinosaur?  One that's eating a traced shadow!  (Did I forget to mention this post is PG-13?)

Oh, and let's not forget that this DID happen.....

Can I just say that I am so blessed by such wonderful friends? I'm so thankful that I could spend such a beautiful day with beautiful people to celebrate the beauty of Christ's love for us.

You girls are the best at "self care!" Please tell Julie's mom how much I appreciate her letting you come over for such a sweet play date and Easter celebration!
